Experience
Cyril is a partner of the firm and has been
practiising in the area of intellectual property
for more than 10 years. He has been actively
involved in various aspects of the intellectual
property law practice, in particular, contentious
matters. He has been recognised for his
expertise in Intellectual Property in AsiaLaw
Leading Lawyers 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007
Editions.
He represents major clients in the printer
consumable industry as well as the
telecommunication industry in the
management and execution of anti-piracy
strategies and raids throughout the Asia-Pacific
region.
Cyril also regularly advises clients on software
licences, data protection and trade secrets,
trade mark and domain name issues. He is
an ICANN Generic Name Support
Organisation Council representative.
Notable projects and clients
- Represents Canon, Epson, Hewlett- Packard, Sharp, Toshiba, Daimler Chrysler in conducting and coordinating anti-piracy operations in Southeast Asia.
- Represents the Entertainment Software Association (”ESA”) in anti-piracy activities in Singapore.
- Conducting and coordinating anti-piracy operations for international fashion houses and also the Singapore Clock & Watch Trade Association.
- Advising Association of American Publishers on copyright and anti-piracy issues.
- Advising Xerox, Lexmark, Brother, Toshiba, Sharp, Samsung, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Honda, General Motors, Volvo on anticounterfeiting matters.
- Acted for hardware manufacturers in a trade mark litigation.
- Advising a software development company in various corporate intellectual property matters.
Professional background
Cyril graduated from the National University
of Singapore with a degree of LLB (Hons) in
1995. He was admitted as an advocate and
solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore
in 1996.
Cyril serves as a member of the Asian Patent
Attorneys Association. He has conducted
many seminars on intellectual property
enforcement and has appeared in Channel
NewsAsia and CNBC on IP protection. Cyril
is also regularly quoted by the Straits Times
of Singapore.
